Common Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
Traps beginners fall into again and again.
The most common mistake is creating gaps (holes). Dropping an S, Z, or T piece hastily on flat ground leaves a hole underneath, making the row above it impossible to clear. Wait for a spot that suits each piece.
Letting the stack surface get bumpy is also a problem. An uneven surface leaves nowhere good for the next piece to go. Keep it as flat as possible, leaving at most one column open as a well if needed.
Ignoring the NEXT queue and only reacting to the piece in front of you is another common trap. Checking upcoming pieces and planning two or three moves ahead can significantly reduce close calls.
