The Complete Rules of Falling Block Puzzle

Everything you need to know: what to do and how.

One of 7 tetrominoes falls from the top at a time. Move and rotate each piece as it stacks on the board — fill an entire horizontal line with no gaps and it disappears, dropping everything above it down.

Clearing more lines at once scores more points, and clearing four lines simultaneously is called a 'Tetris.' If you fail to clear lines, pieces keep stacking up, and the game ends once they reach the top with no room for a new piece to spawn.

Pieces are shuffled and distributed in sets of seven (the 7-bag system), so no single piece appears too often or too rarely — it stays fair. You can check upcoming pieces ahead of time in the NEXT queue.
