Using Hold
Difficulty: Basic
Store the current piece and bring it out at a better moment.
Hold lets you tuck the current piece away in a box and bring it back out later. Use it to set aside a piece that's awkward to place right now, or to save an I-piece for a Tetris.
You can only use hold once per piece placement. If a piece is already being held, it swaps in for the current piece.
Keeping an I-piece in the hold box — the 'hold strategy' — is fundamental to well-based Tetris combos. That said, it's best to save it for when you truly need it rather than overusing it.
